Dear People Who Keep Company With God,

In the Old Testament, the raging waters of the Jordan River was the last obstacle that the children of Israel would encounter before they entered the crossing your jordanPromised Land. Crossing the Jordan River is like passing from the land of bondage and wandering to the land of freedom. It is symbolic of victory and deliverance. It is saying good-bye and good riddance to slavery and the sorrow of the past.

But there is a problem with this whole crossing over thing. It is impossible to do. There is no bridge to walk safely and comfortably over, nor boat to carry you over. We are being called to crossover, but many of us are struggling. You need a direct divine intervention of God to cross over. Without a miracle, you are stuck.

The children of Israel experienced a mighty miracle when God parted the Red Sea, but when their children arrived at the Jordan, they couldn’t get across it. We can hear the miraculous stories of our parent’s generation or our friend’s miracles, but at some point we got to have our own breakthroughs.

“Today I will begin to make you great in the eyes of all the Israelites. Now they will know that I am with you, just as I was with Moses” (Josh. 3:7)

“Today, you will know that the living God is among you.” (Josh. 3:10)

“The Ark of the Covenant, which belongs to the Lord of the whole earth will lead you across the Jordan river.” (Josh. 3:11)

The Presence of God is our breakthrough. He desires to assure us like He did Joshua that He is with us as He was with the great saints of old. Today, not just yesterday or tomorrow, but right now, God wants to reveal His Presence and power to you and lead you across your Jordan River.

In the New Testament, the most significant thing about the Jordan River, it’s where John the Baptist baptized Jesus Christ. Immediately after His baptism, heaven was ripped open, the Father spoke from heaven and the Holy Spirit descended in the form of a dove and rested upon Jesus. (Mark 1:9-11).

Crossing over will bring you into a fresh encounter with the open heaven. The Presence of the Holy Spirit will rest upon you. Fresh anointing, calling and purpose await us on the other side. You will experience a deeper revelation of the Father. You will hear His voice. You will know His love and your heart will be strengthened by identity and acceptance. Elisha received Elijah’s mantle, along with a double portion along the banks of the Jordan (2 Kings 2:13-15).

Another significant aspect of the Jordan River is that it is a place of recovery. In 2 Kings 6, when the spiritual sons of the prophet Elisha were planning to expand their place, they went to the Jordan to cut wood to build a building. In the process, the iron ax head of one of the men fell into Jordan. He told Elisha that it was borrowed. Elisha asked him the spot where it fell into the water. Elisha cut a stick and threw it into the river where the ax head went in and miraculously the iron ax head floated to the surface!

I believe that stick speaks of the finished work of the cross of Christ. You will recover the things that you need to become all He created you to be and do. Whether they are spiritual, physical, financial, emotional, relational and so on. God shows up at the Jordan and will recover whatever it may be. It is also a place of healing. A mighty Syrian General, Naaman was healed of leporsy after dipping in those muddy waters seven times (2 Kings 5:14).

You do not have to be defined by your past failures or the fading memories of your past success anymore. It is a new day when you cross over.

Many Blessings, BW
