Dear People Who Keep Company With God,

There is nothing more significant and life impacting as experiencing the love of God. The Bible reveals that “Love never fails.” (1 Cor. 13:8) love reloaded

I have been involved with and done a lot of things that have failed, but I have come to know as everything and every season passes, God’s love is the only thing that remains constant.

It is for this reason Paul prayed that we would continuously experience the fullness of this love (Eph. 3:19).

This summer I had a surprising encounter with the love of God. I’ve had some wonderful encounters with the Father’s love in the past, but this was different.

I say this encounter was surprising because of the way it happened. A child was involved. A little boy, with a very odd look on his face, looked me in the eyes and spoke to me about the power of God’s love. It wasn’t the little boy speaking. It was God. I heard God speak as clear to me at that moment as I ever have. Then the little boy went back to doing what all little boys love to do as if nothing had happened. I was left undone for a good while.

Later that evening, I received a package in the mail. Bonnie Jones had sent me a copy of the book she had written chronicling Bob Jones journey of learning to love. It has been 40 years since Bob died and went to heaven and came back with that message. Last year, Bob passed on to heaven for good.

“All the foundations of God are built on love. If you’ve learned to love, then you have obeyed everything God wants you to do. Love, He is our greatest pleasure. When you are in love with Jesus, He becomes your greatest pleasure.” Bob Jones

I believe learning to love is about receiving and giving away God’s love. In 2006, I heard Heidi Baker give her life message. She called it, “Passion and Compassion.” I will never forget it.

She shared how she came to a revelation of the love of God, that was the passion part and how she has since given that love away, that was the compassion part.

The world needs His love more than ever.

I had a dream in 2013, in which I was experiencing the compassion of Christ. Everywhere I went people were being healed and delivered. I could not even look at the sick without His compassion rising up in me – it was an irresistible force. His compassion would compel me to pray for them.

Compassion is expressing the love of God toward others, those we love and those we may not love. Compassion is not human pity or sympathy, in fact, the writers of the gospel made up a word to describe what they saw in Jesus when He healed people – it was compassion (Matthew 9:36; 14:14; 20:34). That word did not exist in the Greek vocabulary before the gospels were written because no one had ever seen real love fully expressed until Jesus came and dwelt among us.

I have lost too many people to death. I don’t want to lose anymore. I am pursuing His compassion.

Eagerly pursue and seek to acquire [this] love [make it your aim, your great quest]; and earnestly desire and cultivate the spiritual endowments (gifts). 1 Corinthians 14:1 – Amplified Bible.

A child was involved in the encounter I experienced this summer. Becoming like a child is a key to understanding how God wants us to receive and walk in His love in this season.

Many Blessings, BW
