Go Sit By The Brook

Go Sit By The Brook

November 06, 2016 - Byron Wicker

Elijah is quoted more than any other Old Testament prophet. There are around 30 direct references and another 10 indirect reference to him in the New Testament. He comes out of nowhere and gives a major prophetic word to the leader of the nation in a time of national crisis. There was a great need for the Voice of the Lord to be heard. People desperately needed his ministry. So, what does God tell him to do? Get out of here. Go hide by an insignificant brook located east of the Jordan, outside the Promised Land. We all know about the triumphs of Elijah’s ministry on Mount Carmel, but here’s a spiritual key: God will take you to Cherith before He ever takes you to Carmel. Before Elijah could stand on Mount Carmel, he needed to sit by the brook.
