Dear People who Keep Company with God,

We are hearing reports that Aslan, the great Lion of the tribe of Judah, our Lord Jesus is on the move! This is very exciting news yet for some of us this may present a challenge. As a young believer I had a subtle fear that I was going to miss God. This fear affected every area of my life. If I heard a report that the Lord was on the move I immediately began to question why I had been left out. This type of thinking can spawn a multitude of issues in your life. I now understand the root of that fear was grounded in the orphan spirit (John 14:18) that influenced my life. Since having the orphan spirit and the accompanying sense of abandonment broken off of my life I have discovered that I do not have to be afraid because my Father has gladly chosen to give me the kingdom (Luke 12:32).

I believe we are in a time of visitation (Luke 19:44) and the Lord recently gave me some very simple counsel on staying in a place of receiving from Him. He said, “be childlike, be flexible and remain secure in my love for you”.

“Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” Mark 10:15

I had the opportunity to spend some time with someone who came to the God Encounter weekend who is very inexperienced in the things of the Spirit. I was totally surprised at how perceptive this person was as to what the Holy Spirit was doing in the meetings. It was as if she had been around this all her life. The thing I noticed most about her was that she is totally childlike in her attitude. She was not spiritually jaded at all and was not skeptical on any level. Because of this she was able to receive what God was doing much more than some of us who are more ‘mature’ in the things of the Spirit. God does give grace to the humble in heart.

“But no one puts a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and a worse tear results. 17 “Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.” Matthew 9:17

“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver. “Don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the King, I tell you.” C.S. Lewis from the Chronicles of Narnia

In the natural old wine is preferred to new wine as the new is unstable, unsettled and not very predictable. It is the same in the spiritual. We naturally prefer what we have become accustomed to as we have already ‘learned the ropes’ and know what to expect, however, the Lion of the tribe of Judah is not predictable. In this season if we will focus on the wine the Lord is serving and not the vessel or expression through which He is using we can be assured that He will continually renew our minds and keep us flexible and spiritually fit for what He is doing.

Then a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is My beloved Son, listen to Him!” Mark 9:7

The only people on the earth who we should fully give our ear to are those who are secure in His love. When Aslan moves those secure in His love will come to recognize the moving as being Him. David was such a man, he said, “I saw the Lord always in my presence; for He is at my right hand, so that I will not be shaken.”Acts 2:25.

The Lord is drawing near to His friends in this hour.

Many Blessings, BW
