Dear Church Family,

We had a blessed pastors and elders retreat last weekend. My goal for the retreat was to touch the Father’s heart together, have fun and come away enlightened and encouraged. I believe we achieved that goal.

One thing that became apparent is we are in a new day spiritually and that new day has ushered in some significant changing of the guard in our leadership. Here is a summary of those changes.

Effective January 1, 2014 Matthew Bollinger will no longer serve as Associate Pastor of RL-Mooresville. He will assume the new role of Pastor of RL-Chapel Hill. Matthew will continue to be part of the pastoral team at RL and fellowship with us in Mooresville until mid 2014 at which time he and his family will relocate to Chapel Hill to launch RL-Chapel Hill.

How are we going to back fill Matthew? In the short term we do not plan on bringing another pastor on staff. We have reviewed all of Matthew’s responsibilities and plan for Marlin Muguso & myself to cover the majority of his pastoral duties. In order for us to do this we have to shift some of our administrative duties. Effective Jan.1 Mya Florence will come on staff part time to cover a host of administrative duties Matthew and the rest of staff have been doing. We are very excited about Mya joining our team. She has a lot of capabilities.

Ryan Meade will also become more involved in facilitating corporate worship services, meetings and the Adventure School. Ryan is very gifted in this area and has true servant’s heart and love for RL.

Another big pastoral change is mid summer of 2014 Tony Baker will be stepping down from his role as Children’s Pastor. That is a big move as Tony and Cindy started the children’s ministry at RL and have served faithfully for years. Tony will transition and serve as an elder.

We are pleased to announce that Joe Sheesly will become the Director of Children’s Ministry. Joe and Kim have worked with the children for years and we are excited they feel called to take the baton for the children’s ministry. The Father has called us to take care of the children and has given us Joe & Kim to put hands and feet to this calling.

Another big change is Rhonda Bumgarner will step down from leading the Women’s Ministry. As we all know the women at RL carry a powerful influence and Rhonda has been integral to this from the beginning. Rhonda will continue to be involved in small groups and discipleship of women.

We are pleased to announce that Jenn Nunn will become the leader of the Women’s Ministry. Jenn and Brian lead the Prayer Ministry Team and have done an awesome job. We believe Jenn will do an awesome job with the women as the Lord has invested a lot in her.

We are re-launching the men’s ministry in 2014. They will be called Holy Ghost Guys. Ken Fortune and Bob Haire will be joining forces and I believe we will see a group men burning with Holy Ghost Fire coming out of this ministry.

These are the most significant leadership changes we have ever experienced at RL and we are so blessed how God is orchestrating all of this. It has been a real grace filled and exciting time watching Him do it. We have great expectancy for the future and are thankful for those who have served and those stepping into new places.

If you have any questions or want to discuss any of this, let me know.

Shalom, Byron
