Dear People Who Keep Company With God,

While I was visiting the persecuted church the veil between this world and the spiritual world was opened and I found myself looking into the eyes of Jesus Christ. The impact this is having on me cannot be adequately communicated with words. The best illustration I can give is since I had this encounter I have been going through an extreme home makeover. I have felt like a house that had all the furniture and furnishings removed. The house is empty and all the dirt and marks on the walls from life are suddenly very noticeable.

The Lord showed me one particular ugly spot on the wall of my heart, a spot of bitterness that had been hidden behind some furniture in my house for many years. As I looked at this spot I was reminded of a situation that happened over 25 years ago. In my mind I had long since moved on and felt I had forgiven the person involved and the issue was settled. When I saw the spot I knew it came from never truly forgiving from my heart.  I acknowledged this to the Lord and immediately I had a vision, I saw Jesus Christ dressed as a painter with a roller in His hands and a big smile on His face painting the walls of my spiritual house.

“So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. Act 20:32

The phrase, “build you up” in this context means to renovate, repair or make like new. There are storms and difficulties in this life and our spiritual houses need repairing and fixing up from time to time or we just need to be updated and renewed due to the effects of time, wear and tear. That is what Jesus is doing in me and I believe this is something He is doing with many in the body of Christ in this season. My spiritual house got a fresh coat of paint, some repairs and a really deep cleaning. Since that time He has been putting the furniture and furnishings back in the house, but in a different arrangement. There are different priorities, ministries and purposes He desires to bring forth in His people in the days ahead.

Later as I was praying over all this the Lord took me in a vision to a heavenly warehouse. On the dock of this warehouse were some boxes that had appeared to be there for some period of time. I knew these boxes contained new items the Lord was giving me to put in my house (Eph. 1:3). Apparently He had been waiting on me to come and pick them up. I think I was distracted with so much other stuff that I overlooked what He had for me. By faith I received the contents of the boxes and in time some new expressions of Holy Spirit gifting, calling and purpose will come forth in my life. I believe this is what the Lord desires to do for all of us. We all have heavenly packages waiting on us for the days ahead.

One of the key differences between a spiritual remodeling and a natural one is that all the work is done on the inside of the house. The Holy Spirit reworks our inner man and our outward man changes as a result of what He has done on the inside of us. It is very important we do not try to do anything outwardly, just allow Him to work inwardly and the outward will manifest in time (Gal. 2:20). That is a real key for the time we are now in.

The most important thing I see in all of this is the priority of Jesus Christ in our lives. There is an old saying, “It is not what you know, but who you know.” That came right out of the Bible.

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13

Just being with Jesus and being known by Him will make the greatest difference in our lives. He wants to settle down in our hearts and be the center of our lives (Eph. 3:17).

Many Blessings, BW
