But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)

Dear People Who Keep Company with God,

The world is full of troubles and being a follower of Christ does not exempt you from them. It could be relational, or an issue with health, finances or something else that seems impossible. But with God there is always hope, no matter how bad things look. Nothing is impossible with God. Often, we don’t take advantage of the goodness and power of God that is available to us. We tend to put Him in the box of our understanding, experience, or circumstance. In reality, it is not God who is in the box, but us. He can’t be trapped in the realm of “with men this is impossible.” And as His sons and daughters, we do not have to stay stuck in the inferior domain of impossible either. The Scriptures reveal God as the great problem solver. When Sarah and Abraham doubted God’s promise to give them a son, God said, “Is anything too hard for the LORD?” (Genesis 18:14). When God revealed Himself and His wondrous power to Job in his distress, Job replied, “I know that you can do all things, and that no purpose of yours can be thwarted” (Job 42:2). When Jesus prayed in the Garden of Gethsemane before he was crucified, He cried out, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Remove this cup from me” (Mark 14:36).

I had a supernatural dream in which God appeared to me as the great problem solver. I watched as the wisdom of God addressed pressing situations I was facing, and they were all resolved. One of my troubles was a severe ligament strain in my knee. Weeks and weeks went by, and it wasn’t healing. I begin to wonder if I would ever recover. In the dream, I saw myself running, which I could not do. When I woke up, I knew God had healed me, and I jumped out of bed to only feel a sharp stabbing pain in my knee. I fell back onto the bed and asked the Lord, “What gives?” As I lied there thinking about it, the story of Jesus cursing a fig tree in Mark 11 came to my mind. The disciples were amazed because the fig tree had dried up from the roots after Jesus spoke to it. “So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says” (Mark 11:22-23). The dream was an invitation to participate with God in bringing answers into my challenges.

In the story, mountains speak of problems. It’s not a coincidence that God chose a mountain to represent our struggles. They are big and seem permanent like they’re going to be there forever. A lot of times, we pray about our dilemmas and seek counsel about them. It’s good and right to do those things, but here, Jesus invited us to “have faith in God” or more literally translated, “have the faith of God.” And with that faith, you speak to your storm. I begin to talk to my knee based on what God revealed to me in the dream. Within two days I was able to take a long walk, and within a week, I was pain-free! As for the other predicaments, one by one, I began to speak to them, and God did what only He can do. Whatever struggles you are facing, no matter how difficult life is, and impossible your situation seems, it is important to remember His love for you and trust that “with God all things are possible.” Ask Him, and He will reveal how you can speak to your problems and secure your breakthrough. As you learn to do this in your own life, you will be able to do it for others.

Many Blessings, BW
