I Didn’t Know It

There is a saying, “what you don’t know can’t hurt you.” That may be true in some ways, but not when it comes to God and His Kingdom. In the Old Testament, Jacob had an encounter with God at Bethel and declared, “God is in this place, and I didn’t know it.” That phrase is central to his story. Jacob went on in life and didn’t know his Uncle Laban was a deceitful man. He didn’t know he had married the wrong woman. Nor did he know the man he wrestled with was God. And for 22 years, Jacob didn’t know his son Joseph was alive. What you don’t know can sometimes really hurt you. God desires for us to know what He has already given us in Christ.
