The spirit of This Age

The spirit of This Age

The Spirit of God wants to speak to the heart of the church about the spirit of this age. There is a spirit of fear at work in society today. There is a link between justice and righteousness and you can’t have one without the other. We need to pray for a spiritual understanding of how to go about the pursuit of justice and righteousness linked together. Justice and Righteousness are the same thing.

Martin Luther King Jr. quote: “There is something I must say to my people who stand on the worn threshold which leads into the palace of justice. In the process of gaining our rightful place, we must not be guilty of wrongful deeds. Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred.”

There is a wave of righteousness, a wave of healing and a wave of the presence of the Holy Spirit coming that is soon to pour out on this nation again. And there are forces at work in our society that want to harden the heart of the church and blind the church’s eyes to the truth so that we will not fully participate in the outpouring of God’s Spirit in our day of visitation. Watch the witness of the Spirit.

There is a thing at work in the world today trying to corrupt the common understanding of the word justice and separate it from the word righteousness which are the same word in the Greek New Testament. In the publication “Social Justice in an Open World: The Role of the United Nations” on page 2 it states: “Present day believers in an absolute truth identified with virtue and justice are neither willing or desirable companions for the defenders of social justice.”

There can never be any true justice without virtue and Biblical righteousness. Jesus’ self-sacrifice on the cross is the ultimate revelation of what Divine righteousness looks like. He died for our sins and even forgave the men who nailed HIM to the cross. The sin of the world was overcome by mercy and forgiveness. Our victory lies along the same path.

Rom. 12:1 “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Have you had evil done against you? We’ve all suffered wrong. How do we get free from this? How does this make us stronger rather than cripple us. The answer is forgiveness!

1 Peter 3:8-12, 17 “8 Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; 9 not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing. 10 For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. 11 Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it. 12 For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. … 17 For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.”

Practicing the righteousness and justice of the kingdom is forgiving others for their transgressions.

If someone commits evil against you, you can retaliate and the evil remains and grows, retaliation and retribution cause evil to grow. If we forgive, that little mite, the little piece of evil is removed from the world and absorbed by grace and overcome by the love of God. Lord help us forgive the unforgivable.
