“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20)

Dear People Who Keep Company with God,

As Christ died on the Cross, “The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.” (Luke 23:45) That veil covered the Holy Place, where only the High Priest could go. The veil is symbolic of Christ’s flesh that was ripped to shreds at the Cross (Hebrews 10:19-20). Now, the Holy Place is open for all who are in Christ. Not only will we one day go to heaven through Christ, but since He died on the Cross, He serves as the Door opened where heaven comes down to us. I had a supernatural dream about an open door in heaven that changed my life. In the dream, I was in the back parking lot of our church building, and suddenly a door in heaven was open before me. There were a beautiful blue, gold and rose-colored light that enveloped me. The atmosphere in the light was heavenly. There were some other men with me, but they were only vaguely aware that something happened. They did not see the open door or any light. I was hugely impacted, but they weren’t.

I didn’t understand it at the time, but the dream was my future. It was God introducing the open heaven to me, and it wasn’t very long after the dream that I began experiencing a heightened awareness of the spiritual realm. I started to have a lot of prophetic dreams, visions, and revelation from the Scriptures. Prayer and worship easily flowed from my heart. It was a turning point in my walk with Christ and the ministry God assigned to me. Over the years, the newness of it wore off, and there are ebbs and flows in my awareness of the heavenly places, but I am not the same person that I was before. The common thing in the Bible when there is a mention of open heaven is that God became more real and that is what happened to me. You will never be the same when you experience God making Himself known to you.

Heaven is open, but you can miss it, as the men in my dream did. On most days you will only perceive the spirit realm dimly, and there will be times that you will not see or hear much at all (1 Corinthians 13:12). There are many reasons for this. Some of it is on God’s part, and some of it is on your part. What you believe affects how you spiritually perceive. If you allow only what you naturally see and hear or the lack thereof to establish what you believe it will not be long before heaven falls silent. Not believing or wrong believing, carnal desires, sin, self-effort, and laziness toward God will hinder you. There is also the prince of the power of the air that operates in deception, distortion, and distraction. I have seen a dark demonic haze that works in the atmosphere of the world (Isaiah 60:2). It looks like black smoke from a pile of tires burning. If you are not attentive, over a period of time, this darkness can weigh your heart down and cause your touch with God to seem far off. But you have an anointing inside of you that is so much greater and powerful than the deception around you (1 John 2:27). It is your internal guidance system that enables you to discern what is from the Holy Spirit, the world, the flesh and the devil. It is the Spirit of Truth and the Word working within you. Regardless if something sounds right, equitable or even wrong, always allow your inner anointing to guide you. If you do this, you will experience a deepening measure of the open heaven that Christ paid the ultimate price for you to have.

Many Blessings, BW
