In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. (Genesis 1:1-2)

Dear People Who Keep Company with God,

We are in the beginning a new time, and God is going to do wonderful things. The Spirit is blowing gently, and things are changing. The Hebrew word for spirit in this verse is ruach, and it means “air in motion.” It is the same word for “breath.” It also means “life.” By likeness to breath and air in motion, it means “spirit.” That’s where we get the word spirit in the Old Testament. In the New Testament, we have the same line of thinking. Jesus is talking about the Holy Spirit and says, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” (John 3:6-8) The Greek word for Spirit is pneuma, which again means “a current of air,” “breath,” or a “breeze,” and again by analogy, “spirit.” Both the Hebrew and the Greek tell us the Holy Spirit is the breath of Almighty God. And the breath of God is blowing fresh across our world and is bringing much needed life, help and momentum.

His breath is bringing an increase in revelation, dreams, and visions, but in these days there is an accompanying fear of the Lord. The “Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord” (Isaiah 11:2) is stirring. I delight in revelatory experiences, but now I am learning to “delight in fear of the Lord.” (Isaiah 11:3) I find the warning in James 3:1 of a stricter judgment on those who teach weightier than ever. God makes allowance for us in our immaturity and does not hold us accountable for what we do not know, but “to whom much is given, much is required” (Luke 12:48). The world is in great need of signs, wonders, and miracles and the Holy Spirit is going to use us to meet that need. An African brother who is powerful in this realm came to me in a dream and told me Psalm 2 is a key. It is eye opening how much the first verse describes the current condition of the world. “Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing?” (Psalm 2:1) I take this as a warning to not get caught up in the anger, dissension and political correctness that swirls in the atmosphere. This stuff is not harmless. If you bow to it, you may compromise your authority as a beloved son. Your authority rests upon your identity. You are a new creation in Christ, and this enables you to tap into His glorious inheritance, which includes signs, wonders, and miracles. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and give you confidence and boldness to speak His word with power (Acts 4:29-30). Psalm 2 concludes with wisdom and instruction on how to live in a way that cultivates the supernatural lifestyle. “Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son.” (Psalm 2:11-12)

Many Blessings, BW
