This resurrection life you received from God is not a timid, grave-tending life. It’s adventurously expectant, greeting God with a childlike “What’s next, Papa?” (Romans 8:15, The Message Bible)

Dear People Who keep Company with God,

Are you living life adventurously expectant? Are you looking forward to what’s next? If you are, then you are approaching life the way God designed you to live. One of the things that we see in Scripture is that we as believers were made to live an adventure-filled life. In Christ, adventures can be major undertakings such as ministering the gospel in the nations or they can be in the everyday routine stuff we do. I think of adventure as doing something without knowing how it will turn out. It may have a significant outcome, or it may not work out as you had hoped. It is the unknown that makes the adventure both beautiful and risky. The wholehearted pursuit of your God adventure whether it is big or little, is not always smooth and sometimes it isn’t even fun. It may not include staying in your comfort zone. It’s risky, but it is fulfilling and will open up a whole new world of potential for how God can move in and through your life. None of us are exempt from failure and setbacks. When you fail at a God assignment, you may feel disqualified and wonder if God could ever trust you with anything again. You could think you’ve let God down or let your loved ones and friends down. Shame and humiliation seem to lurk at your door. You may wonder if you ever heard God in the first place. It is not surprising that people give up on the adventurous life and start playing it safe.

The reality is your failure can become the place you learn to experience the power of His resurrection. There is no such thing as resurrection without death. “A single grain of wheat will never be more than a single grain of wheat unless it drops into the ground and dies. Because then it sprouts and produces a great harvest of wheat-all because one grain died.” (John 12:24 TPT) Failure is never comfortable, it’s never easy, but it can do a deep work in your heart. It can bring you to a place of fruitfulness. The Bible is full of stories of people who failed. But their stories didn’t end there – they rose from the graves of failure and God used them wonderfully. Years ago, God shared a dream with me. I was determined to see it come true, but I failed. One day as I stood by the grave of my failure, a vision from heaven opened before me. I was standing with Abba Father and pouring out my heart to Him. He looked at me as only a Daddy can and said, “Ok.” It was startling and powerful. I knew He had taken care of me and my failure. He is our rearguard (Isaiah 52:12). Then He asked me a question, “What do you want to do now? Do you want to keep grave tending, or do you want to go with Me?” The vision ended with Papa and me headed to our next adventure. That was a resurrection day for me. Don’t allow failure to be your undertaker, let it be your teacher. Papa created you to dream because He is a dreamer. You are His dream, and He is ready for you to live adventurously expectant with Him.

Many Blessings, BW
