Dear Church Family,

We are getting ready to depart for our trip to Northern Canada to minister to the local people in the land of the midnight sun. Last Sunday we were so encouraged to have so many in the church commit to join with us in praying daily for God to move during this trip. Here is an update to let you know what the schedule is so that you can pray more specifically.

This week is the final week of preparation. We’ve been finalizing our messages and activity schedules, purchasing supplies for crafts and games, and making the many preparations that this type of trip requires. Joel, Daniel, Austin and I (Scott) leave Thursday morning so that I can arrive in time to attend a homecoming event this weekend. Tony, Cindy, Melissa, Alisha, and Olivia Chesnut leave Saturday morning and arrive Sunday night. This week we’re praying for God to prepare the hearts of the leaders and the youth who are coming, and to prepare the spiritual climate in advance of the camp. We also covet your prayers for a safe trip, which takes two days and includes 12 hours of driving.

Next week (July 1st-5th) begins the first week of camp which is called “Leader’s Week” for those in their teenage years who feel they have a calling for leadership. We’re praying for an open heaven over the camp and for God to have His way. This is a wonderful opportunity to minister to the Natives and Inuit people in the North. They are so open to the things of God, but at the same time are so bogged down with many forms of false religion. Please pray for the Truth to prevail, and for wisdom as we minister to the leaders of the next generation.  During this week we’re also hoping (somehow) to visit a couple of the communities to stir up excitement and offer personal invitations for the following week’s camp.

The following week (July 8th-12th) is “Kids Camp” where children (ages 8-12) from many of the communities come for a week of camp. I’m not sure about this year, but some years there are kids who take 6 hours by boat and then 5 hours by car to get to camp. There are vast distances between the small communities in the North. These are truly life-changing events for the kids, and opportunities that they don’t get anywhere else. We pray that God will transform these kids by His love and that the light of the gospel will be taken back to the various communities to make lasting differences throughout the North.

Each of us on this team thank you so much for your prayers. We understand the power of prayer and how a praying church can cause heaven and earth to be moved so that God has change lives.

We will try to post periodic updates and pictures on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/campparadisenwt

Blessings,

Scott, Melissa, Tony and Cindy
